Phone Power Reviews

3.72222166667

Phone Power is one of the fastest growing VoIP companies in the country. We know why. Besides their very aggressive pricing, we found their customer support to be excellent and extremely responsive.  We placed several calls to their customer service and the calls were answered quickly and courteously with USA based employees.
One of our favorite Phone Power offers is the monthly unlimited calling which is only $14.95 per month for 24 months. It offers unlimited inbound and outbound calls in the USA and Canada. One of the best parts of this offer is that there is no activation fee which we really like. All VoIP companies require an Internet phone adapter to use with your broadband Internet connection. Phone Power leases this to you for free, you only need to pay the shipping & handling of $14.95 to have it shipped to you. In addition, they offer a free "cloned" line which allows you and another member of your household to have 2 completely separate outgoing calls at the same time even though you will only have 1 phone number. For those who only want a month to month plan, you can receive a $19.95 per month plan with no commitment.
One of their plans is extremely attractive. They are currently offering an annual prepay plan for $199.95 for 1 year but they have a promotion offering an additional year for free. The effective rate is only $8.33 per month ($199.95 / 24 mos. = $8.33/mo) for unlimited calling in the USA & Canada. The annual prepay also includes an additional "free" cloned line. This annual prepay does not allow refunds for cancellations so that is a downside. An added benefit is that if you ever move to a different city in the USA, you just need to tell them so then can update the 911 records and you simply take your Phone Power service with you at no additional charge, provided you have access to high speed Internet service at your new location.
The international rates provided by Phone Power are extremely competitive. The key thing to remember is that many companies advertise a low international rate but that is often the rate to call a landline in that country. If you are calling a friend or loved one on their cell phone, you will often pay a higher per minute rate when you call them. We researched many popular countries and found Phone Power offers some of the strongest international rates to both landlines and cell phones.  Rates to call India are 1.9 cents/min to landlines and 2 cents/min cell phones. The rates to the Philippines is only 11.5 cents/min to landlines and only 14.2 cents/min to cell phones. We researched many European countries and Phone Power has the best rates. You can see this for yourself by using our drop down menu for residential international rates. A strong feature of Phone Power is that there is no additional monthly fee to enjoy their lowest international rates. We really liked that about Phone Power. It makes calling overseas worry-free.
The company's founders have a very successful history providing excellent customer service with consumer technology companies. We are confident that you will enjoy their service and it is one of the main reasons that Phone Power comes with one of our highest recommendation for phone service.

I needed a new VoIP provider after VoiceWing closed down. I was hesitant at first but I called and they answered the phone right away. I got my modem within a few days and everything worked right away. Very happy and the call quality is excellent.

I switched over from VoiceWing to Phone Power VoIP with no regrets. They have a Simple plan with no hidden costs. The sound quality is excellent. Customer service is pretty good. I had only one issue that I mis-set the blocking feature and blocked all incoming calls. It took them 3 days to discover the issue was due to my mistake. Overall I am happy with Phone Power

I just switched over from BBtelsys to phone power. BBtelsys closed their business on me one day without no notice. So far I am extremely satisfied with phone power's service. They ported my number ON TIME. All the features are great. I love "Click to call" and "line cloning" features they offered. ( I am not sure other VOIP providers offer those features) Overall its a great service. Technical support was also cool. I wish they could survive in this bad economy! I strongly recommend to anyone who is looking for a great VOIP phone service. Mathew

I ordered online and canceled my order (by email and phone) a few hours later that same day (prior to 1 pm Pacific time). My activation date was not for another 5 days. They still processed my order and sent me a phone adapter. I returned the phone adapter unopened. I was charged $41.29 even though they advertise no cancellation fee, no contract, and satisfaction guarantee. I repeatedly requested a refund and am currently battling Phone Power for a refund (through my credit card company). Buyer beware - this is not a good company to do business with - the Satisfaction Guarantee is meaningless!

I was nervous about my switch at first so i got myself a new phone number to test them out. It's been 3months now and no problems so I had my old phone number ported over and switch went great. So far all is GREAT! I've delt with a very knowledgable customer service staff via chat with less than a minute wait every time. after every chat sesion you can email a copy of it to yourself. I also went on a trip and conected my equipment to a different ISP via highspeed And all was asif I were still home. On Phone Powers Website there is a link to check if you ISP is fast enough AND able to spupport VoIP; make sure to connect via ethernet cable not WiFi.

I left phone power due to problems with connection to calls I was trying to dial. Also had issues with receiving calls. There would be a lot of noise (static) and could not hear the caller who was calling and had to hang up them. Well when I came back I had the same issues. Called tech support and was talking to someone within 15 seconds and he spoke Engliush. How glorious that was. I explained to him what was going on. He asked to share my computer with me and I gladly accepted. He went in and tweaked the DMZ Host in my modems settings and since then I have had no issues. I made as many calls as possible and then texted some people asking for them to call me soi that I may test my line. NOT one issue with it! I am very pleased. For any of you who may be having the same issue, please do not hesitate to call the support team. They are Very helpful and will get you up and running. I know now it is not their equipment or service. It was on my end. Give them a try, you be happy you did!

I moved and at my new house there was bad cell service. So I went VOIP with Phone Power. It was great until a new cell tower went up in my new town. I then canceled Phone Power and it has been a nightmare! The company is trying to get another $100 from me for a "missing power cord." I sent everything back and I keep receiving emails saying I sent them the wrong power cord. This is impossible as the only things plugged into the outlet was the modem and the Phone Power device. My Modem still is working so I didn't return the wrong device. I would like anyone to show me a power cord for a modem that costs $100!!!! If you get this service for a short amount of time...then beware!

We have been using phonepower for two of our phone lines using both ports on the ATA device. I am on a Macintosh with an Apple extreme router. We are very happy with the service, quality, and controls we have on the phones. The pricing is excellent as well. Our DSL provider disconnected our service while doing the whole port over of numbers by mistake. I was able to work around that by having the forwarding of my phone power lines to my cell phone until I was back up with my DSL. Great work around.

I found that the voice mail did not work all of the time and tech support had a difficult time trying to resolve the issue every time I called in with the problem. I finally requested that my service be discontinued. I made the request one week before the start of a new billing cycle as to not be charge for another month. They waited to disconnect my service two days after the new billing cycle and then charged me for another month. I called customer service back to ask them why and got no straight answers. They said they would continue my service until the end of the billing cycle but they still have not reactivated my account. This has been going on for over a week now and they still have not done what they promised. Good luck with customer service and tech support if you need them and be prepared to pay an extra month when you decide to end your service with them!

Have had service for abot 3 months now and it has been great. NO MONTHLY PHONE BILL!!! I originally set it up on Comcast but I switched to a new cable service (WOW) and reliability dropped alit (broken voice streams) which was due to the low quality of WOW service. I just switched to AT&T Uverse and with a little chat session with customer service (Very convienent!) it works great now. The reliability issues have been caused by my changing of cable services, not thier service. The only reason Reliability is 4 stars is because it may take a little reprogramming when changing cable providers. Customer Service is superior because unlike other customer service contractors for so many other companies, there is no language barriers. A USA company, hiring USA citizens... How refreshing. I recommend this service provider with no reservations. The free CLONED line 2 is an awesome feature, which brings call waiting to the next level. GOOD JOB....

I originally signed up for Vonage but then I found out that they could not port my number over from Verizon so I dropped them. I'm glad I did because I found PhonePower! These people are really great. First, the price is very low, I signed up for the yearly deal and got a year free plus a free cloned line. This keeps my cost to about $10.00 a month for 2 years. Second, tech support is awesome! When you call, you actually get someone in the USA, not in India or somewhere else overseas. They are always VERY helpful and do all they can to get your issue resolved. I could not be happier with my service with PhonePower, especially since I'm saving over $60.00 month since I told Verizon to take a hike. I got tired of them nickle and dime'ing me all the time. Phone Power is awesome! Give them a try and you'll see I'm right.

I love Phone Power. I found their service to be impeccable. I was nervous at first but once the modem arrived, I just installed everything as instructed and it worked wonderfully. I upgraded from Skype because I didn't want to sit in front of my computer nor do I want to leave it on to simply make a telephone call. If you are shopping around for VOIP service, make sure that Phone Power is on the list.

In March 09, I switched from traditional Verizon service to VoIP with Phone Power.. Since day 1...what a mess.. Very poor sound quality and terrible reliability. I found myself constantly chatting with their tech support to resolve the many many issues on a weekly basis.. Finally had enough with Phone Powers service.. On 7/2/09, I swithched back to Verizon. You see, I got sucked into a great price for a too good to be true deal.. If you don't mind dealing with constant issues then they probably do have the best deal in town. But I personally think Phone Powers VoIP service is terrible. Too bad I prepaid the first year and lost my money.. But thats the way it goes I guess... Any company that is determined not to offer you a refund or even a partial refund for unused services is simply running a very crooked business.. A lesson learned!

After reading many of the negative reviews I have to add mine. I have had them for over 2 years and just signed up for another year. I did have problems with my call quality until I switched my phone! I had older 2.4 cordless phones and whenever I was near a microwave it would interfere terribly with the call. However, after doing just a little research I found out the new DECT 6.0 phones work on a different frequency and thus eliminates the interference. We purchased these phones and amazingly enough great sound quality and no interference or static. PhonePower is a great company, customer service has been great!

i call often to india. although phonepower charges me 1.9c/min the call quality is excellent. i had initially some difficulty in configuring my router and firewall for the phone adapter but once everything was done correctly the call quality is excellent. million times better than vonage. i have been most dissatisfied with vonage and whenever you call vonage complaining they say it is your bandwidth although i have enough bandwidth. looks like their server is awfully busy. phonepower the quality is excellent with clear connections to india. the downside... you must be technically savvy to configure your router and firewall correctly.

Have been using PhonePower for about a month now and am highly satisfied. I have contacted tech support many times (not because of issues, but because I like to know how things function and was curious about features and how voip works) and my calls and chat sessions were met with enthusiasm and professionalism on the other end! I have had only one issue with echo initially when I was calling into the number, but that was quickly taken care of by tech support. Rock solid service so far, new features seem to come every 2-4 weeks from reading reviews. Pricing can't get any better! Prepaid for two years, bringing price to around $8-9 per month. I was paying close to $50 with AT&T and didn't have 1/4 of the features. The call blocking is great and useful, as is the voicemail, call log, and forwarding rules! I do wish that PhonePower had a "custom" caller id feature like some other voips do that can change the incoming caller id to a specified display name (ex. "Wireless caller" caller id can be routed thru PP and check your contact list and change the caller id to show "Mom's Cell"). Hopefully this feature will be included SOON! Everyone is extremely professional and kind!

had for little over 6 months. had frequent outages and tech support would "fix" each time. Went over a week without service. Kept fixing problem but would only last a day or 2. Each time they blamed it on something else, even though they fixed it the previous time there was always something new. Then they started to blame things on my end. Finally gave up and got another service. would not recommend. Cheap cost is not worth the unreliable service and bad quality.

would have recommended them. I have been on their system for a year now and it has been fine. Just recently, they cut their customer services hours so there is little evening time to get help. The system drops quite often and if you can't get technical help either online or by phone, you have no phone system. My wife and I both work and contacting them in the evening is our only way. This is a big step backwards. Comcast is available 24/7. BAD NEWS

We have been customers for the past 3 years, and are truly happy in all regards with the flawless service, and great prices, not to mention the features we all receive. Why pay Comcast 5 times what Phonepower charges, for lesser services too. Or pay JoiPhone, the absolute worst of all VOIP providors we ever had, in all respects. LINGO charging for things you don't do/use month after month, and then taking months to rectify over charges they agree they do, consistantly. AT&T using your phone use to figure out new angles on how to charge more, while providing less month, after month. You get every feature possible with Phonepower, and no needless charges month after month. Use this company, you will not be sorry

I have been a satisfied Phone Power customer for 14 months now. My first International call was from U.S.A. to the Philippines. At first, the people thought I was in their country at a hotel because the call was so clear. One person told me that I sounded like I was in the car with her. That was when I knew I had chosen the correct phone company for me. I was unsatisfied with Vonage and Lingo. Of course their cell phones were in good signal areas also. The call quality sounded like I was on a computer headset talking thru Skype!!! The Phone Power features are wonderful. Like the young people say..."Totally Awesome!"

Switching to Phone Power has been a disaster! The phone line goes dead from 1-8 times most days, and the only way to get phone service back is to unplug the box and my router, and then reset the system. Tech support cannot fix it. In addition there is usually an echo when making calls. No matter hom many different quality problems I've had, PP refuses to give me any money back. I can't wait until my contract is up...I'm GONE!

Had good service until my two-year contract reached its lowest monthly charge. Service went from excellent to lousy - frequent echoing, garbled, get 1 in 10 word conversations. The adaptor is PhonePower programable/settable/etc.; so, at my request the audio sampling was dropped from 84K/sec to 16K/sec which helpped a bit. User is able to log into the adaptor for some settings. I found the adaptor has the means to restrict up and download speeds. I set it to disable and found twice that the up and down speeds had been altered to 300 and 500K. My internet speed is 5-10M! So I moved the adpator from it spot between my ethernet in and my router to just one of the router ports. Later, the adaptor gave out a sound, smelled of burnt components, and went dead. Upon calling, PhonePower asked if the adaptor was connected to the house wiring. When I said yes, they immediately stated it was not designed for such application and I must pay $65 for a replacement adaptor and promise I will not connect it to the house wiring. Strange, it had been so connected for several years with no changes and other VOIP's have no such restrictions. The phone device can be obtained via the internet delivered to my door for half the price in quantity of one. For PhonePower, getting thousands of these at wholesale, the proper thing to do would be to ship me a replacement. Afterall, I had been paying them without a hitch for several years now to be treated this way when their equipment failed as units do on occassion. I am not looking to replace them and have informed my family, friends, and associates to avoid PhonePower. Call quality has tanked, customer service has tanked, and there are competitors offering better price/performance these days....

I am now looking to replace them and have informed my family, friends, and associates to avoid PhonePower. Call quality has tanked, customer service has tanked, and there are competitors offering better price/performance these days....

I have had Phone Power as a residential customer for over 2 years now. I consistently get billed $19.01 a month for use. The phone quality has been FAR superior than my previous provider (Vonage). I had only one issue and that was when I moved locations and had to get a new router (AT&T U-verse). My phone power router quit working. I called phone power, they upgraded my firmware and got me back in business within 5 minutes. Mind you I have an older router now (from 2009) and the service works just as it did from day one.

Service was great, until it stopped working. Then one day a call came in, and the caller couldn't hear us. This happened over and over again. We contacted tech support, and they sent instructions for us to do things that had already been done and were in place, so everything should have been working perfectly. But after six weeks, we terminated with them, and sent back their adapter. Then they billed us for $99, saying we terminated early. Well, their service wasn't working. Do we still have a contract if their service doesn't work? I say no, but the collection letters came regardless. I answered every single collection letter, but apparently no one can read at Phone Power. Now a collection agency in Minnesota is writing and calling (I've blocked their calls). I have responded to that letter, disputing the debt. Conclusion: Avoid Phone Power at all costs. They suck hard.

Terrible service. Customer support was via chat, and if you had downed internet lines, there was no support. The price is low, but our office has been down for hours this week. Fax doesn't work coming in. This service is cheap for a reason.

I had them for two years. It was rocky getting it setup initially. They didn't have 24x7 support. Once it was up and running I never had a problem with the service. When I cancelled this month, they charged me for another month the day after I cancelled. They said I cancelled too late. I had to wait for the contract to be over before I could cancel, so it becomes a catch 22. Cancel early-get hit with a fee for breaking the contract; cancel after the contract date-get hit with another month of service you don't use. (Can't use if you have already ported your number away...) Oh and if you dispute any charge with your credit card company, Phone Power hits you with a $25 dispute fee.

There were things I was happy with, like the price and no monthly commitment. I checked my internet quality. It is very able to support VOIP. However, once I tried Phone Power there were times when I felt like I was talking on a cell phone going through a bad signal area. It kept cutting out. Something that is unacceptable for a business, especially when making sales calls. Their website advertised a 30 day money back guarantee. Which is one of the main reasons I tried it out. When I cancelled within the 30 days because of the quality issue I mentioned, they told me the first month's fee was non-refundable! THIS COMPANY IS DISHONEST! BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DEALING WITH THEM!

Had my number ported to a competitor after being with phone power for 2 years since had purchased 2 years prior. Assumed that the account would be canceled since the number was no longer with them. To my surprise they kept billing my credit card until I noticed the bills, called them and to my surprise they said that I had to physically cancel the account. I said to them for kind of service were they charging being that my number was now owned by a new provider, they said that it did not matter because their company policy stated that. After trying to get a reasonable explanation about why they would charge if they were not providing a service they hung up. So I disputed my charges and promised them that I would make sure everyone I knew would know about the blatant theft they were perpetrating. So basically I could have been charged for ever because my account was not canceled, what nerve these company has.

I've been SOOO happy with PhonePower for over a year now, that I searched online to find a place to rate their service. The line is extremely reliable. I've hardly had any trouble at all. The quality of the calls is great- so clear. Their features (double line, online call log, voicemail to emails, etc) are so handy. And last but not least, their customer service is OUTSTANDING. All so knowledgeable and courteous (and AMERICAN) they help you in a very timely fashion.. KUDOS TO PHONEPOWER!
