It's Official - VoIP on the iPhone

Well, it's official. No need to get around Apple's limitations without jailbreaking the iPhone. VoIP applications can now run in the background with the iPhone OS 4. This is news everyone was anticipating -or hoping- would become a reality sooner rather than later.


This is big news, it means that the VoIP providers can now start competing against your wireless carrier plan for voice services. I can't wait to be able to get a data only plan and start picking whichever VoIP carrier I please. We'll let you know once we identify VoIP companies with the apps.
